As we said in our last blog post, it’s important for home building and remodeling contractors to keep marketing, even when they’re too busy.

But we understand that you live in the real world. When you’re scrambling just to make sure you can complete all the work on your schedule, it’s hard to find time to devote to marketing.

So here we’ll offer some tips for keeping your marketing active without taking too much time.

Post on Social Media

The best thing you can do to stay in front of potential customers is to keep your social media channels active. By posting at least a few times a week (ideally once a day), you can make sure that your name and work gets noticed.

That sounds simple, but we understand what a time-suck social media can be. So here are a few tips:

Use a social media scheduling tool. There are several good ones available with inexpensive (or free) subscription levels. They make it easy for you to schedule all your posts for a week or more in one sitting.

Don’t worry about perfection. Too often, companies think their social media posts have to be masterpieces, with just the right photo, wording, and hashtags. The truth is you don’t need to overthink it. Just document your work with your thoughts, ideas and photos, and get it out there.

Re-Purpose & Repeat

A lot of people who create content to post on social media and other platforms assume that it’s one and done. They think that once they post something, their audience has seen it and doesn’t want to see it anymore.

That’s an incorrect assumption.

When you post on social media, chances are most of your audience doesn’t see it right away. Same goes for blogs and YouTube videos. Re-posting slightly altered versions of previous posts is an effective way to keep your feed active and stay in front of potential customers.

Also, if you have a blog, that’s a potential goldmine of content that can be re-purposed for different channels.

Every blog post has a minimum of five social media posts in it. Even if it’s months or even years old.

If you’re ever stuck on ideas, just look to your blog. Offer different perspectives or new ways of looking at the information you originally shared.

Re-purposing is one the most overlooked ways to keep your content fresh.

Blogging

Speaking of blogging, if you have been neglecting your blog, or if you don’t have one, now would be a good time to get it going.

Blogging has been around for years, but it’s still one of the most effective ways you have to get found on the internet by generating organic search results. But you need to be consistent with new blog posts on a regular basis – at least once a month. Once a week is better.

Two things to remember about blogging: Posts don’t need to be perfect. Just offer helpful information that your customers can use, and make sure your spelling and grammar is okay. Don’t worry about winning a Pulitzer.

Second, blogging does take a bit of time. If you need help with your blog, we can help! Our writers can help you create compelling blogs that provide value to your customers. So you don’t have to worry about it. Contact us to get started.

Set Aside Time

The most important thing you can do to market your business when you’re too busy is to set aside time, even if it’s just an hour or two a week.

Marketing is what helps you bring in customers so that your business continues to thrive. If you neglect your marketing for too long, you could suddenly find yourself with not enough work. And not enough revenue.

Designate a set day and time to think about your marketing. Think about what’s working, what isn’t, and what you need to do differently. Then make an action plan you can execute.
