Don’t overlook one of the most powerful marketing tools you have.

Pictures tell your story.

It may sound cliché, but it’s true. One of the best things you can do to market your home building or remodeling business is to use pictures. It’s true for almost every business category, but it’s perhaps more true for yours than it is for most others.

That’s because pictures are one of the most powerful forms of communication we have. In an instant, they can tell a story, demonstrate a process, show a solution to a problem. And evoke emotion.

We’re not telling you anything you don’t already know. The power of pictures is just common sense.

The thing is, as a contractor, you’re probably not using pictures enough. And we understand; you’re busy. And you’re not alone. Many, if not most small businesses (and even some big ones) don’t use the power of pictures to their full potential.

But there are no excuses. Nowadays, everyone is armed with a high-quality camera. It’s extremely easy to take dozens of pictures at a moment’s notice.

So if you want to use the power of pictures to their full potential in 2022, here are some tips to get you started:

Use Pictures To Document Your Processes

As a builder or remodeler, you do a lot of intricate, detailed work. Believe it or not, your customers are interested in what you do, down to every detail. At least some of them are.

There are certain types of customers who like to know what you do and how you do it. Maybe because they’re aspiring DIYers, maybe because they like to know what kind of work goes into their homes, or maybe because they’re just curious.

These are important, influential customers because if they believe you do good work, they’ll tell others. So what better to show them than through pictures. Take photos of the work you do – your processes, your best practices, your attention to detail.

This shows your customers that you know what you’re doing and that you’re confident in the work you do.

Pictures Can Answer Customer Questions

As part of the sales process, you undoubtedly get a lot of questions from potential customers. Our guess is that most of those questions are the same every time, and you can probably answer them in your sleep.

Every one of those questions presents an opportunity to create content, in either a blog post, a social media post, a web page, or all three. And with a business like yours, that’s highly visual, it’s always a good idea to illustrate your answers with pictures.

Think of it like Show & Tell. Tell people the answers to their questions through your written content, but show them using pictures, too. It will make your content more engaging, educate your potential customers, and enhance your SEO.

Show Pictures of Your People

People like to work with people they like. It’s a simple fact of business. As we said in a previous blog post, one of the best ways to get potential customers to like you is to celebrate your people.

That means taking pictures. Show your people on the job, interacting with customers, and even enjoying their personal interests.

Obviously, you don’t want to invade their privacy, but pictures of your people give your customers a little window into who they are as individuals, and that helps customers get to know your company a little more.

And that makes it easier for them to like you.

As we mentioned above, we understand that it’s not always top of mind to take pictures. So you may need to make a concerted effort to take out your camera more often, take more pictures, and level up your marketing in 2022.
